I know I say this every time it's the end of a month, but I really I have no idea where September went! Thinking back on it I feel that it took a really long time, but it seems like it went sooo fast! I'm already approaching midterms! How is that even possible?! I have my first midterm on Wednesday, and then I have my other midterm on the 17th. My other classes either don't have tests at all or they have multiple tests spaced out throughout the semester.
I had my last English class before our midterm on Wednesday at 8:30 this morning, and I made plans to meet up with people to study tonight.
After that I went to breakfast with Maritza, and then I went to German a little bit after that. After German I had religion, and then I had my religion discussion where I decided I did not like my discussion class. It's one of my least look-forward-too events of my week. After that was over I ate some lunch in my room before going to work. I finished reshelving the books that appeared on Friday, and then I went back to my room where my socks had arrived!! I was so pumped for these socks haha.
I had $3 left to spend at American Eagle before they gave me a 15% off coupon, so I decided to order some socks. I took a picture of my socks because I think they're so cute!!
Anyway, after the socks we went to dinner. I worked on some homework, and then I went down to meet with Chelsea, Ali, and Elena so we could study for our test on Wednesday. We studied for about two hours, and then we all disbanded. When I got back to my room I finished the rest of my homework, and then I went to bed.

I woke up this morning and took a shower, and then I went to breakfast. Maritza's parents were coming in at 10:30 today because she had an induction into an honor society thing today, so they arrived at 10:30. I decided to go to the library to do some homework since I'm sick of being in my room all the time, and the library was actually pretty productive! I finished my English homework, and I started my lit homework. After a few hours I got really hungry, so I went back to my room and ate the leftover pizza. By that time Maritza was done with church and her induction, so she and her parents came back to our room, and then we rode to Walmart! Maritza got to drive the car to Walmart which she said was a bad idea because now it's going to make her want a car on campus.
It was so nice being in Walmart because since Maritza is busy every evening we never have a chance to catch a bus out there. We definitely loaded up on the foods stuffs.
I took a picture of our Walmart bags scattered on our floor because it was great to have groceries! As you may also be able to see, my garbage can was bag-less, and that was because I did not have any bags to put in it, but now I have a plentiful supply of bags! Yay for Walmart trips! After that Maritza and her parents went out for dinner, but I was still full from my pizza, so I said goodbye to her parents because they were leaving right after dinner.
I decided to sit on the Pentacrest for a little bit to read outside because it was so beautiful out today. There was a cultural diversity even happening today in the park so while I was reading I was listening to a band playing Turkish music. At least I think it was Turkish music. I forgot what country they said they were from.
After a little bit I went back to my room, and I spent the rest of the day doing homework. I ended up eating soup way later since I was still pretty full, and Maritza brought back a bread bowl from where she ate dinner, so I got to eat that with my soup!

Saturdays are my lonely days since Maritza is gone all day. But on the plus side, we got to speak to each other this morning!! She agreed with me that the 24 hours in silence really suck and is really depressing. After she left I showered, and then I decided to wash my bedding because I needed to do that. That took up most of my morning because I had two loads and only used one washer, but once everything was clean my bed felt so nice!!!
The rest of the morning I spent doing some homework and reading. Maritza was supposed to have time off at 2 to get lunch, but she decided to do something else, so I went and got some Which Wich for the first time since being back! It was so delicious, except that it was drizzling outside so it was wet everywhere. It was still amazing to eat a delicious sandwich!
The rest of the evening I spent doing nothing exciting, and then at 7:30 Maritza texted me telling me to go the theater building so that I could get in line for the play we wanted to see tonight. It was a really small play with only two girls, and it was called My Sister, it was about twin sisters in Germany when Hitler was rising to power, and one of the twins was physically handicapped. It was cool because the actresses were twins. It was super good and funny and extremely depressing, but I enjoyed it a lot. I wanted to take a picture during the play, but I felt really awkward because it was one of those plays were the audience is really close to the actors, and we were in the front row, and the lights were shining on us the whole time, so I did not take a picture. Instead I took a picture of the program I got.
After the play Maritza and I walked back together, and then Maritza ordered some pizza for dinner, and I ate some with her while reading. Eventually we both went to bed.

Today Maritza did her 24 hour vow of silence, so it was pretty quiet in my life today, except that I was actually able to talk to people when I was around them! We wanted to do it on the same day so that we wouldn't have to suffer two days without talking to each other, but there wasn't one day that worked best for us, so we had to do it separately.
I had my English discussion today where we played Jeopardy as a review for our test on Wednesday. My team lost miserably, and we're blaming it on the rigged questions we were asked haha.
After that I walked to the dining hall with Chelsea, and then I met Maritza for breakfast, and we ate in silence because I couldn't talk to her.
When I got back to my room I wrote the abstract that I should've wrote last night, but it ended up not being a problem because I had until 12:30 to write it which was more than enough time since an abstract is only a paragraph. Then I printed it off and met with my teacher. She recommended some things to add into my abstract, and then she recommended a book for me to check out for next week.
I went to lunch afterwards, and then I had a little time before heading to work.
My boss was not at work today, but he left me a note saying that there were a whole lot of books to be reshelved, and that made me really excited because I like shelving books. One of the books I had to reshelve was entitled "Celery" which made me laugh. The material I shelve is just soooooo interesting. I also like that the bindery decided the make the book the color of celery too. I took a picture of it, though, because I liked it so much.
After work I went back to my room. I got dinner with Maritza, and then I spent the rest of the night reading. I'm glad it's Friday, though!

Happy Thursday! As aforementioned, I don't like Thursdays. They're very long, and today was no different! I woke up at 6:50 this morning, and I was still unable to talk because my 24 hours were still not up; however, no other college student was awake at that time, so I had no one to talk to anyway.
When 7:30 finally happened I considered for about 5 seconds waking up Maritza just because I could, but I did not. Then I went to work, and I was so tired the whole two hours I was there. The good news was that I was still finishing shelving a bunch of envelopes that came in earlier this week, so it used my brain more than shelf reading which would have been disastrous in my mental state.
After work I bought a granola bar and ate that in the library cafe area before heading to German. After German I went to lunch, and then I had an hour-ish to chill before my lit class. I ended up talking to Maritza the whole time in between classes, and I told her about what a terrible experience yesterday was. It was so nice to finally be able to talk to her!!!
I went to my lit class where we talked about the second half of Frederick Douglass's autobiography, and then I had another hour-ish to kill before my honors class.
When my honors class got over, I met up with Maritza for dinner, and then I spent the rest of the night catching up on the internet that I was deprived from yesterday. I also did some homework in there in between a lot of procrastination. I had to write an abstract for my teacher I'm doing the research project with, but I had not motivation, so I decided to just write that tomorrow after class.
I took a picture of this banana because I carried it around in my backpack all day thinking that I would eat it at some point, and I did not. By the time the day was over it was very sad looking. It had a lot of indents where it hit the corners of my wallet. I am sorry, banana.

September 25, 2013
So today was pretty horrible for multiple reasons:
1) I had a test in German
2) I had a test in Religion
3) I took a vow of silence starting at 7:30 this morning for a religion project.
So I woke up at 7:30 this morning to get ready for my 8:30 class, and as soon as I woke up, I couldn't speak. In my religion class we talked about this group of people called ascetics who practice austerities such as a vow of silence or not eating to learn some inner knowledge type thing. For our first paper we needed to practice a 24 hour vow of silence and then relate it to the ascetics, and I chose today to do my silence because I had two tests, and, therefore, I wouldn't have to talk it two of my three classes, and I don't have to talk in the other class because it's a lecture. So today was the perfect day to do it. On top of not speaking, we were also not allowed to read for pleasure, use the internet for pleasure, respond to texts or e-mails, or listen to music.
When I got to my first class, my friend started talking to me, but I was able to ignore her and just kind of pass it off like I was tired. Then I went to breakfast with Maritza which was quiet, and then I went to my room to study for my German test. The test seemed to go a lot easier than the last test, so that was good. I actually forgot I wasn't supposed to be talking because I was so wrapped in my test, and I almost talked to someone, and then I stopped myself. After that I went straight to my religion class. I was super nervous for this test because I had no idea what to expect, but I think I did pretty okay. I didn't feel completely lost! So that was a huge weight off my shoulders.
After that I went back to my room and sat by myself doing homework until it was time to go to work. I noticed that I started to avoid people in the hallway because I didn't want to have to confront them and talk to them. When I got to work my boss was luckily somewhere else, but when I went back to his office before leaving he was there, and I ended up saying a few words to him so that I didn't seem rude.
When I got back to my room it was only 5:15, and I realized I hadn't even been doing this silence thing for 12 hours and already I wanted it to be over. I felt so lonely!!!
Maritza and I went to dinner, and then Maritza left for play practice. I ended up finishing my homework fairly quickly since I couldn't distract myself with the internet. I took this picture of me going crazy because I could not stand sitting in silence for so long. And then I went to bed a little after 11 which is the earliest I went to bed all semester! But I had nothing else to do with my time, so I just climbed in bed and went to sleep.

I actually got to sleep in this morning! I set my alarm for 8:30 and 9:30 in case I wanted to sleep an extra hour, and I ended up waking up at 9. It was pretty amazing. I ended up taking a shower, and then I finished reading the article that I was reading last night to study for my test. I ended up taking a ten minute nap right before heading to German, and then I went to German. After German I ate lunch and did my German homework so that I could get it out of the way so that I could spend the rest of the night studying for my test tomorrow.
I then I had my lit class where we talked about the first half of Frederick Douglass's narrative which is really good, and then I went and sat in the library and did my English homework before going to work. After work I went back to my room, and after eating dinner I started studying for my test tomorrow. I had to reread the articles we read so far this semester to remember them and understand the important parts of the articles. It took me all night to read two of the articles, and then I decided to go to bed without reading the last one. I took a picture of the articles as my POD because that's what my life consisted of today.

Yesterday I decided to download the new iPhone software, and I was having trouble logging into my apple account, so I figured I would just deal with it later. Then I woke up this morning and turned on my computer and I was having the same trouble trying to log on with my computer, so I decided to deal with it after classes today.
I had my 8:30 class this morning, and then I went to breakfast and I went to German. I had a quiz in German today, and after that I went to religion, and after religion I went to my religion discussion where we spent the whole class talking about the guidelines for this project thing we have to do.
After that I went back to my room and tried to figure out the apple nonsense. I tried logging on, but it said that either my username or password were incorrect, so I said I forgot my password, and they said they sent me an e-mail, but when I looked in my e-mail I didn't have a message, so I said I forgot my I.D., and when I typed in my personal information they said there wasn't an apple I.D. registered under my name. So I decided to call apple to see what the heck was going on. I ended up talking to a guy for over an hour trying to figure out what was going on, and in the end the problem was that someone hacked my account and changed my I.D., so I had to reset that up. The guy was super nice who I was talking to, though, and I'm glad we got it all figured out.
When I finally got off the phone I finished eating my macaroni which I made while I was on the phone, and then I went to work. After work I decided to check to see if the person who hacked my account used the itunes money that was on my account, and sure enough, they did! There were over fifty dollars worth of songs in some sort of Asian language purchased on my account, so I called apple again. They were super nice again, and I was on hold for a while, but when I finally talked to someone they sorted it out in a few minutes. So that was pretty much all that my day consisted of. When I got off the phone I finally started on my homework. I screenshotted the e-mail I got from the guy after the first phone call as my POD because it took up so much of my time today.

Happy Sunday! Today was a lot like yesterday. I did more homework today, and I even started studying for my test that I have on Wednesday. I'm so amazing.
So after Maritza went to church this morning we met for lunch. Later in the afternoon I went to CVS, and while I was in the mall I noticed Noodles and I realized I really wanted to eat some Noodles, and when I got back to my room Maritza asked if I wanted to go somewhere for dinner, and I was like "where?", and she was all "where do you want to go?", and I was all "I don't know", and she was all "what about Noodles!?", and then I got really excited because that's exactly what I was thinking of! So we went to Noodles for dinner. It was the most delicious thing ever. I got the mac and cheese of course, and I was dying of happiness the whole time I was eating it. I took this picture of Maritza while we were eating because I needed a picture for today. And that was the excitement of my day.

Today was definitely a lazy day! I woke up and threw on some clothes, and then I did some homework. I actually spent most of the day doing homework, and it was very not stressful, and it was pretty nice.
Before we went to eat lunch today Maritza asked me if I wanted to get ice cream after lunch, so I said sure. We went to Whitey's again, and this time I did not get a cone so that it could not drip all over the place. I also got chocolate chip cookie dough because I wanted to be nostalgic. I took this picture with Maritza after we got our ice creams, and as you can see, Maritza got a cone, but she ate it out of a bowl. As can also be seen Maritza did not go to play practice today, so I was not all alone like I was two Saturdays ago when she did have to go to play practice. It was nice having a friend to talk to! The rest of the day I really did not do much, and that's all that my Saturday consisted of! Oh, and also, the cold I got earlier this week is pretty much all gone. That was the fastest cold I think I've ever gone through! Yay for being healthy!

Happy Friday, finally!! The end of this week couldn't have come soon enough! Ugh. But now I have all weekend to get caught up on my Monday homework, and hopefully doing homework assignments the day they're due will not happen next week!! That's the plan, at least.
This morning I had discussion for my English class, and all we did was talk about The Tempest. I love that class more and more the more I have it! It's just so fun! After class I walked to breakfast with Chelsea, and then I ate breakfast with Maritza.
After breakfast I had a few hours to do nothing, and then after 12:30 I went to meet up with my honors teacher I had last semester! At the end of last semester she asked if I wanted to do a research thing with her this semester, and I said yes, so I went to talk to her about that today! It was exciting.
After that meeting I ate lunch, and then at 3 I had to work. I did more shelf reading, and when I was done, I went back to my room. I decided to do absolutely no homework tonight because I was sick of homework, so I spent the rest of the night doing nothing productive! I took this picture of me sitting on my bed and being happy that I wasn't doing anything of importance! Yay!

Sooo Thursdays are officially my horrible days. Except not really because it's pretty much the weekend once it's over since I only have one class on Fridays.
So this morning I had my second Thursday morning work day. I had to get there at 8, and I did more shelf reading which I had to keep walking around to wake myself up. When I was at one shelf I got to the end and all of a sudden there was a very old and gross banana peel chilling there. It really grossed me out so I took a picture of it, and that is my POD.
After work I quickly finished my German homework, and then I headed over to German. After German I quickly ate lunch, and then I had to finish my readings for my lit class, and then I went to my lit class. This theme of doing my homework right before class continued after that when I went back to my room after my lit class to finish writing an essay I had an hour before it was due. Ugh. I hate weekdays. I printed off my essay, and then I also finished the readings I had for my honors class before going there. But after all that was done, the stress was out of my life!!!
After my honors class I ate dinner, and then I went back to my room to quickly finish part of my homework that's due tomorrow, and then I spent the rest of the night stalling to finish the second part of my homework that's due tomorrow because I'm sick of doing homework. But eventually I did finish that homework, and then I went to bed.

Right before we left for class today Maritza looked outside and saw that all of a sudden it was downpouring. I wasn't going to bring my umbrella and instead just my raincoat, but then I saw that Maritza was bringing her umbrella, so I brought mine too...and good thing!! It was raining like crazy outside!! Which is good because it hasn't rained substantially since I've been here!
By the time I got to my class my pants were soaked up to my knees from the rain blowing sideways at me. I took this picture of us walking to our morning classes. It's blurry because we were walking and I was trying not to get my phone wet.
Everyone in my morning class was drenched and looked like they just got out of showers. By the time class was over, though, the rain was done. Maritza and I ate breakfast, and then I hung out in my room until it was time to go to German. We were supposed to have a quiz today, but luckily my teacher pushed it back to Monday.
After German I had religion where I found out I have a test one week from today. I'm so not excited for that.
Then I had a few hours before I had to go to work. I ate lunch and did homework in my room before setting off to work.
As I mentioned yesterday I got trained to do something else today which was shelf reading. Pretty much I just go through the books and make sure they're in order on the shelf and that there aren't any duplicates. My boss told me openly that it's really boring and that I should take breaks to keep my sanity hahaha.
After that I ate dinner with Maritza, and then I spent the rest of the night doing homework. I had so much homework to do that it was really overwhelming. I ended up leaving half of it for tomorrow to finish before my classes. Hopefully I'll be able to get it done!

So I definitely got sick from someone. I woke up with a stuffy nose today, but it's not as bad as I've had before, so I think it's only a minor cold. I did not want to get out of bed this morning, but I had to because I still had readings to finish for my lit class today. I read until I had to go to German, and then I read some more before going to class. Before I headed into my lit class, though, I went to the bathroom where this was written on the wall! It's a John Green saying which made me really happy to see!! So I took a picture of it.
After class I went to the library where I finished reading The Tempest! Yay! I had a few minutes to kill before going to work, so I just sat around until it was time for me to go to work. I finally finished shelving everything today which made me excited! He said tomorrow I'll get to do something else.
After work I went to dinner with Maritza, and then I settled in for the night to do homework. I had great plans to get a lot of homework done because I have a lot due this week, so I got to work on doing that while Maritza was gone for four hours at the play. Yay for productive evenings. I decided to take medicine tonight for my cold, though, because I'm sick of being sick already.

Today was such a busy day, and I didn't realize how busy it was going to be until after I woke up!! So I had my 8:30 class this morning, and in class I remembered that there was an extra credit screening of The Tempest tonight, so that took up two hours of my night! After that class I went to breakfast with Maritza, and then I had to print off my German paper before going to German.
After German I went to my religion class, and then I went to my religion discussion where we set the guidelines for a paper we have to write soon. We have to go for 24 hours in silence, so we had to talk about what we qualified as silence in the class today. I'm not really pumped to do this paper...
After class I ate some lunch and did my German homework for tomorrow before setting off to work. My boss told me to leave a little bit early so that I could sort out my W-4 situation because I had so many questions with it, so I went up to the office in the library, and they gave me some forms and such, and so I was able to leave work a little bit early. I went to my room to drop off my forms, and then I went to meet up with Mary! I ran into her last week on my way to class, and we decided we needed to get together, so we decided on dinner today. We went to Z'mariks which is kind of like a noodles, except I wasn't very hungry because I'm pretty sure I'm getting sick. I had a small sore throat today, and I had zero appetite, so I'm blaming the girl on the bus.
We ate our noodles, and then we sat and talked, but I had to ditch out early to go to my extra credit movie. The movie was pretty good, and the dad from The Sound of Music was one of the main characters and he was pretty good. It was nice to be able to see a Shakespeare play performed because it's not the easiest thing to read. When that was over I walked back to my room and spent the rest of the night reading for my class tomorrow.

Today was the day to go back to school. This weekend was so super short because it was so busy!! We all slept in this morning, and when I woke up there were pancakes to eat, so I ate some. Then I started doing my homework that I should've started working on much earlier. I had to read more of The Tempest and do some reading for religion, but by the time I was done reading The Tempest I had to pack, and then we had to leave. My bus didn't leave until 5, but we had to drop Kyle off at the train station at 3, we had to return one of the purses I bought on Friday because I didn't like it very much, and Dad had to return his tux. We were pretty early in our planning to get me to the bus, so we shopped a little bit at Kohl's when I returned my purse.
Then Mom and Dad drove me to the bus. I finished my religion homework on the bus, and then I watched a German movie I rented from the library. I have a rough draft of a German essay due tomorrow and it's supposed to be on a German movie that we watched, so I chose to watch Im Juli which was really weird, but good.
After that I had only about an hour left in my bus trip, so I listened to music. I sat next to this girl that was sniffling and sneezing the whole time which is great because I get sick really easily. I finally got back a little after 9, and I went back to my room and ate some soup for dinner. I settled in to start writing my German paper, and when that was finally finished, I went to bed. I took a picture of the German movie I watched today because I didn't take a picture of anything else that happened.

Today's the day!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this day for a long long time!!!!!!!!!
So I woke up bright and early at 9 to take a shower, and then I ate a muffin and was leaving to go pick up Jill. Jill and I made plans many weeks ago to get our nails done for the wedding today, and so I went and picked her up, and then we drove to the first nail place we found. It ended up being a nail and spa, and it was super nice on the inside. There were also a whole lot of people working there and a whole lot of people getting their nails did. We had to wait for awhile before we were called to get our pedicures, and then when we were done, Jill got a manicure too. I ended up getting a teal color, and Jill got a burgundy-ish color that I think is really pretty.
I ended up getting home around 12, and when I got home Kelley was already there doing her hair. We had to be leaving our house at 1:30 to pick up Grandma and my aunt, so we had to hurry to get our hair done. I ended up doing half of my hair, and Kelley ended up doing the other half, and we took until a little bit after 1:30 to be ready, but eventually we were ready, and we left the house. We picked up Grandma and my aunt, and then we drove for about an hour to get to the place where the wedding was held. It was kind of chilly outside today, but it was still manageable in a dress. We took some pictures by the gazebo where the wedding was going to be, and then we grabbed programs, and we took our seats!! Dad was the best man, and Jill did a reading, and it was exciting. The ceremony was really nice. I haven't been to a wedding since 2008, so I'm not really an expert on weddings, but it was nice and pretty! Afterwards they took pictures, and there were family pictures that we got to be a part of, and then for about an hour we hung around on a patio before eating dinner. They were serving drinks and passing around hors d'oeuvres. I was really hungry since I had only eaten a muffin this morning, so I ate about five crab cakes because they were so delicious. We went inside an hour later for the reception, but first we had to thumbprint a guest book which was super cute! There was a cousins table that we all sat at. They cut the cake, and then Dad gave a speech, and Julie's sister gave a speech, and then we ate our foods! We had salad and the main course which I chose to be chicken, mashed potatoes, and asparagus, but the other option was steak and shrimp or something.
There was a photo booth thing during the reception where the photographers took pictures of us, and then they printed the photos and we got to keep them, so we took full advantage of that. I took pictures with the fam, Kelley, Kyle, Jill, and Julie, and it was great.
We ate the cake which were three different flavors of cupcakes, and then the music and dancing began.
At around 10:30 I got extremely tired, but they paid the d.j. to keep playing for another hour, so we waited an hour before the reception was over. Joe, thankfully, drove us home because I was falling asleep, and I definitely did fall asleep on the car ride home. We dropped Grandma and my aunt off at their house, and then we drove to our house. When I got inside I didn't even have the energy to leave the kitchen table once I sat down, but eventually I willed myself out of the chair, and I fell asleep right away. But today was sooo great! It made me so happy!

Today I get to go home! Yay! I had my 8:30 class this morning, and last night I submitted my essay that was due today, so that stress was out of my life for the weekend! We talked about The Tempest in class, and then when class was over I quickly walked to the dining hall to meet up with Maritza for lunch. Mom was getting here around 10:30, and I still had to pack, so I ate quickly, and then I started packing once I got to my room. It didn't take me very long to pack, so I didn't need to worry about it.
I said bye to Maritza before she left for class because I would be gone before she got back, and then I waited for my mom to text me! She got here right at 10:30, and then I went down to the car, and we pulled away. Since I had just eaten breakfast I wasn't hungry, so we stopped at a gas station to get snacks until I was hungry to eat a meal.
We didn't end up eating until we found a Panera once we were in Illinois, and by then it was already about 2 o'clock. After Panera I drove the rest of the way home which wasn't very far. When I got home I took a nap, and I woke up when Dad came home from work. Mom and Dad had to go to the rehearsal dinner for the wedding tomorrow, so they left at about 6ish, and then I decided to go shopping. I wanted to find a cute purse for tomorrow, and I was also looking for some colorful sandals that would be cute. I ended up going to about ten stores trying to find a small purse and sandals, and all I found were two purses that I couldn't decided between. I ended up not getting any sandals because they didn't have any, but it's okay because I brought my black sandals home.
My shopping extravaganza took a few hours, and by the time I got home I was determined to never go shopping again. I took this picture with Jersey, though, because we are reunited once more, and then I had to pick Kyle up from the train station.
After picking Kyle up I stayed awake for a few hours, and then I went to bed because I was so tired, and tomorrow is going to be really busy!

One more day and I get to go home again! I'm so pumped for the wedding this weekend! Ahhh!!!
Anyway. Today is Thursday which is my long day, and it's even longer now because I work in the morning. I set four alarm clocks to make sure that I woke up in time, and I woke up with the first alarm, so I think I'm going to cut back from now on haha. I'm just really anxious about sleeping through work!!
I start at 8, so I woke up at 6:45 and took a shower. My boss was glad I made it on time and that I was awake and functioning. He asked during my "interview" if I was a morning person, and I told him no, so he is prepared for my non-morning-person attitude.
Anyway, I started shelving today for real. I actually had to put books on the shelf! I also had to mark the books with white papers so that he could go through and check to make sure they were okay.
The time went by pretty average-ly, and I stayed pretty wide awake the whole time. I ended up getting down about 10 minutes after 10, and so I just walked to my next class, and I was still early getting there.
We didn't do anything exciting in German, and then I went and ate lunch in the dining hall before going to my lit class. We had to read more Emerson last night, and I was going crazy reading it. About 0% of what I read actually sunk into my brain, and then my teacher threw a quiz on us on the reading we did, so that made me happy. I just made up my answer, and then we talked about the passages which were apparently really interesting, I just couldn't get through it.
After that class I had about an hour and a half before my last class, so I just chilled for a bit, and then I went to my last class.
Class got over at 6, and then I asked Chelsea who is also in that class if she wanted to get dinner with me, and she said sure. We waited for about a half hour until Elena and Jess were out of class, and then the four of us ate dinner together. I was super pumped because there was a grilled cheese bar today that was closed during lunch but open during dinner, and it lets you choose what you want on your grilled cheese. It was so delicious.
We ate and talked, and then we went back to our rooms.
I only had to finish writing an essay for tomorrow, but I could not write a conclusion to save my life, so I put that off and did laundry, and then after my laundry was done I was able to throw together a conclusion that didn't really make any sense. I took a picture of my clothes drying because I did laundry for the first time, and it was the only thing that I took a picture of today. So here are my clothes.

So this morning I woke up, and took a shower, and I walked with Maritza to class, and I opened the door to my lecture hall at 8:25, and there were two people sitting there when there was supposed to be about a hundred. I slowly backed out of the hall and logged into my e-mail while a few other people showed up, and the two girls told them that class was canceled. When I finally did log into my e-mail I sure enough did have an e-mail that said there was no class! It was sent at 4:40 this morning. So glad I got there before I woke up.
So I walked away from class and went to breakfast. I was upset because I could've slept in an hour longer, but it allowed me to study for my German test which I had today.
So I studied for a few hours, and then I went to German and took my first test of the semester. It was okay, but the vocab section totally threw me off because I couldn't figure out some of the words in the definitions. I got out of class about ten minutes early, so I walked to my next class and just got there early. My religion class was really interesting, and then I went and ate lunch.
When I got back to my room I decided to check my mail, and I had a package slip!!! I went to get my package, and I saw that it was from Kelley!!!! She sent me cookies, a cup for milk (which I don't have at the moment), really cute push-pins, and a card! It was the cutest thing ever, so I took a picture of it! Here is my loot! I don't know if you can tell by the picture, but the cookies were homemade, and I totally thought they were store-bought because they look so perfect. It still blows my mind that they aren't store-bought haha.
I did not have to work today because my boss was working the service desk, and therefore, could not be there to show me what I had to do. So I had my first day off! I spent the evening doing homework, and it was great.

Today I got to sleep in an extra hour because it's Tuesday, and Tuesday's mean no class until 10:30! It's funny because last semester my first class all week was at 11:30 or something, so I slept in every day, and still woke up late sometimes! That's crazy.
So anyway I woke up and took a shower and then I ate breakfast at the dining hall. I went to German where we just pretty much reviewed for our class tomorrow. After German I went back to my room and ate some macaroni before going to my Lit class. We talked about "Nature" today, and it really isn't bad when we're talking about it. I realized a lot more things from discussing it than I did while reading it. We had to get with partners, though, and talk about a particular passage, and I just told my partner that I started going crazy in the middle of it, and he said he didn't really read it that well because he underestimated the amount of time it would take.
After that class I went to the library and spent the hour I had before MY FIRST DAY OF WORK reading Act 2 of The Tempest for my English class tomorrow. I was getting so tired reading, and I wanted to take a nap so bad in the comfy library chair, which is not okay. I ended up only being able to read to the second to last page. I had one more page, and that homework would have been done!! But I had to go meet my boss. He took me back to his office which was a huge maze to get there because the library is under construction and everything is inconvenient at the moment. Then he took me up to one of the ITCs and sat me at a computer and told me I had 45 minutes to go through the paperwork and fill out the things I needed to and to learn the system that the section I'll be shelving for uses.
The website I was supposed to be using for setting up my pay stuff wasn't working, so I just read all the paperwork, and then I had library games to play where I had to order the books in the correct sequence haha. It was funny. And then he came back, and he took me up to the section where I'll be sorting books, and he let me sort some books onto a book cart, and then he told me he'd check it over later. He didn't really come back again until 5 when it was time for me to go.
I was so hungry and cold by the time I left that the 100 degree heat was amazing, and I met Maritza at the dining hall. I seriously grabbed as much food as I could because I was sooo hungry! And it was amazing to eat.
After that I went back to my room and finished The Tempest. I also wrote a rough draft of my essay due on Friday because I'm meeting with my T.A. tomorrow to go over it, and then I was finally able to start studying for my German class. Before I climbed into my bed, though, I was telling Maritza that I feel like I'm using a million books at once because all my classes have multiple books I need, and there are always just stacks of books lying around my desk because I use them too often to put them back on the shelves, and then I climbed in bed and saw that I had brought four books up with me just to work on my English homework, so I took a picture of the books because this was just for one class I was working on.

Last night Maritza checked her phone for the weather today and told me that it was going to be over 100...I was so looking forward to that. So this morning I had my 8:30 class again, and we talked about Act 1 of The Tempest, and we also talked about our essay that's due on Friday. After class I met with Maritza and we went to breakfast.
I went to German, then I had religion, and then I had my religion discussion. This was only my second religion discussion class because of labor day last week, and I'm not really a fan, but whatever. It was still interesting, I just feel like we talk in circles and I feel more confused after class than I did at the beginning of class.
It was indeed definitely over 100 degrees outside today, but it wasn't too humid, so it was more like a dry heat. It was like a blanket every time I stepped outside.
After my religion discussion I ate some food in my room, and then I had about an hour before I had to go to the library. I was meeting with my boss again to turn in the paperwork stuff I had to fill out. He took me to the office in the library that files all the paperwork, and they finished everything, and it took about two minutes, and then they told me that they'll have to wait for someone to look at something, and then I could start, so my boss told me that I would start tomorrow. I was in and out of the library so fast, and then I just walked back to my room. I spent pretty much the whole evening reading "Nature" by Emerson because we had to read it for my lit class tomorrow. It was only 30 pages long, so I was kind of putting it off, and then I started reading it, and I realized that it was going to take a looong time to get through. It was very dense and took a lot of thought to realize what his points were. I started reading it right after dinner, Maritza and I went to the lounge to do homework, and then after about three hours two girls came in and started talking loudly, so we left. So I started reading right after dinner probably around 6, and I didn't finish it until midnight-ish. I took a few breaks in between to keep my sanity, and we had our roommate agreement meeting with our R.A., but still, it took way to long to finish 30 pages, and I'm not okay with that. When I was finally done I went to bed.

Today was a lot more eventful than yesterday! Yay! I woke up at around 8 this morning for not apparent reason, so I just stayed awake to be productive. I took a shower, and then I went to breakfast. When I went back to my room I worked on sending an e-mail to my teacher for homework that we had this week. Maritza went to church at 11:30, and I stayed in my room and started reading The Tempest because I have to read the first act for a class by tomorrow. I was getting really tired laying in my bed and reading Shakespeare, so I took a little nap, and was just about asleep when Maritza came back. I decided to read some more before I finally did fall asleep, and Maritza took a nap too.
After our naps we went and got lunch, and then we made plans to go to Whitey's and get some ice cream!!! I got the "no-tella" which was hazelnut ice cream with chocolate covered hazelnuts in the ice cream...it was pretty great. It was so hot outside today, though, that our ice creams were melting like crazy as soon as we stepped outside. We walked all the way back to our room, and the whole time I was just focused on eating my ice cream before it dripped down onto my hand. By the time we reached our residence hall I had a pool of ice cream in my palm and it was dripping through my hand. I took this picture of Maritza with her ice cream on our way back to our room.
I finished act I of The Tempest, and then I went to the lounge to do some homework. When I got back Maritza asked if I wanted to go out shopping with her because her sister's birthday is coming up and she wanted to get something for her. So we set out to look for a place to shop, but all the stores were pretty much closed. While we were walking around we saw someone with Starbucks and it looked good, so we walked to Starbucks and I got some iced chai tea, and Maritza got some iced thing. We drank our drinks and sat there for awhile. We had a floor meeting tonight that we thought was at 8, so we left Starbucks at 7:40 to go to the meeting. We were waiting all evening for the meeting because there was going to be pizza, but when we got there nobody was there, so I looked in my phone and saw that the meeting was actually at 5:30...I thought it was 8 because I read Sunday the 8th. We were both super upset because we were so hungry, so we went back to our room, and we ran into our R.A. on the way and told her about our confusion.
Then we ordered some pizzas for ourselves and waited for it to arrive before we watched a movie. When the movie was over it was pretty late, so we both went to bed.

So today was extremely uneventful. Maritza had to assist the director for the play all day today, so I was all by myself, and I didn't know what to do with my life. I woke up when she left, and then I took a shower and ate some dry cereal, and by the time I was done eating it was already 10:30. I decided to read for the rest of the morning. Maritza told me that she would get a lunch break so that we could go get lunch together.
At around 12 I looked for bus tickets for this weekend. They didn't have any buses to go home on Friday, but they had buses that came back on Sunday which makes zero sense to me, but whatever. So I went down to the printer room to buy my bus ticket, and on the way I ran into Elena, and we talked for a little bit. Then I printed off my bus ticket and went back to my room to read some more.
At 2 Maritza came back to our room, and then we went to get lunch. She had an hour and a half, and then she had to go back. I took a short nap at one point after lunch, and then I read for pretty much the rest of the evening.
A little after 7:30 I decided to eat some spaghetti o's, and then Maritza came back, but I decided to go for a walk to get out of the room. I sat in the courtyard for a while which was really nice and peaceful especially at night, and then I walked around the Pentacrest. I took this picture while I was walking towards the Pentacrest because I thought it looked really pretty tonight. This picture doesn't really do it justice. The second flag on the flag pole was a University of Iowa flag, and I think it was flying because we won our football game today. Yay!
After my walk I was pretty hot, so I went back to my room and decided to read again until I got tired, and then I went to bed.

Happy Friday!! Yay!!! Last day of the week! This week felt like it took forever, and it was only four days long!! I had another 8:30 class this morning, and I had to print something off before I headed to class, and by the time I left the printer room I had the exact amount of time before class started, so I got there right at 8:30! I was really hot by the time I got there, but it was all good. We talked about a short story we had to read, and then class was over. It was just as great as last week. After class Maritza and I grabbed breakfast, and then I didn't know what to do with my day because I had the rest of the day to do whatever I wanted with it! I ended up reading for a good part of the day. At 11:30 I decided to go to a meeting, but when I got there I decided I didn't want to go any more, so instead I walked back to my room. It was a nice walk. I read for a good part of the afternoon, and then I did some other homework to get it out of the way for next week.
Maritza and I went to dinner later, and then she disappeared for a few hours because she is assisting a director for a play and she's gone from 7:00 to 11:30 I think every night of the week.
When she got back and we were about to go to sleep I decided to tape down the edges of my pictures because they kept curling up, so I decided to take a picture of them because they looked so nice lying down flat! Here is my wall of pictures! I still want to print more off to continue it on farther, but I need to find pictures to print. After all the taping we went to bed.

Today was my long day of classes. I woke up at 8:30 and was super tired, but I got out of bed and took a shower. I had to do more reading for one of my classes today, so I did that before I got to German. After German I ate some lunch, and then I finished the reading I had for my lit class right before I had to go to class. My lit class was interesting, like always. Today we talked about essays written during Spanish America. After class I went back to my room and read for my last class of the day. I was really tired, but I finally finished reading right when I had to leave for my class. That class went until 6, and then I went and got dinner.
When I got back to my room I was so tired, but I started working on my homework instead of going to bed, and then at 8 I went to an English Society meeting which was okay. On the way there, though, I ran into Elle!! She saw me before I saw her, and she came up and gave me a hug, and we talked for a few minutes. It was so good to see her!! She said I looked like a zombie haha, but I definitely felt like one because I was so tired!! The meeting got over at 9, and then I went back to my room and worked on the homework that was due tomorrow. When I put my hair up into a bun a curl underneath fell, and it was so cool looking, but I had no one to show, so I took a picture of it! Look at that curl!!! It's so curly!! So that's my POD for today haha. I ended up getting wide awake as soon as I climbed into bed, and I couldn't fall asleep until around 1...so that was fun. It's almost the weekend though!

So so far my 8:30 classes have not been terrible to wake up to! I've been waking up at 7:30 and feeling wide awake to start the day! I feel tired later on, though, but at least I'm getting up for class! Today I decided to wear a dressy because I had another interview at the library this afternoon, so I wore this cute dress which is the first time I've ever worn it! I got so many compliments on it today! So many people told me they liked my dress, and it made me happy every time!
So after my morning class I ate breakfast with Maritza, and then I had a little bit before going to German, so I studied for a little bit because I had a quiz today.
Then I went to German and we spent the whole class reviewing before she gave us the quiz. After German I had my religion class which was great like always. The reading we had for today was really terrible, but she said that it was really dense and if we understood it then she would be concerned haha, so it was all good.
After that I was done with classes! I went back to my room and finished my German homework which surprised me, and then I headed over to the library. This time I was meeting with a guy at the reference desk who needed someone to help re-shelve books. We met each other, and he was so nice! We talked for a little bit, and then he showed me around the places of the library that deal with the section he works for, and then he asked if I wanted the job, and I said yes, so now I have a job! It was the greatest thing ever! He gave me paperwork to fill out, and then he walked me back to the front of the library. I was so happy!
I called Mom and Dad, and then I texted Kyle and Kelley to tell them the good news haha. When I got back to my room, I took this picture of me in my dress, and then I settled in to do homework. I had reading to do, so that took up the rest of my night. I took a nap at one point which was nice because I was still in my dress which was the most comfortable thing ever.

Happy Birthday to my Momma! Today is her birthday!
So today was the first day back to school after the three day weekend, and I was really messed up because I kept forgetting it was Tuesday. I have classes at 10:30 on Tuesdays so I was able to wake up a little bit later and take a shower and eat breakfast before going to class. I had German and then I went to lunch. I had my lit class at 12:30, so I went to that. I was kind of worried on the first day about that class because it was kind of dull, but it's really not that bad now that we're actually into stuff. It's an hour and forty-five minutes, so it seems to go pretty fast.
After that class I went back to my room, and then I decided that since it was a pretty nice day outside and it was disgustingly hot that I would go sit on the Pentacrest and do some homework. So I went to the Pentacrest and did my German homework. I took this picture of me sitting under a tree. After about an hour I went back to my room.
I called Mom after dinner to wish her a Happy Birthday, and we talked for a little bit, and the rest of the evening was pretty much just me doing homework because I have a lot of reading for all of my classes.

Happy Labor Day!! I hope you spent your labor day doing unlaborous things! Today I was driven back to school. On Saturday in the morning I tried looking for a bus ticket to for today, but all the tickets were sold out, and the bus never put up any more bus options, so Mom and Dad had to drive me all the way back to Iowa today.
We didn't leave super early because there wasn't really a need, so when I woke up we ate breakfast and then I took a shower and gathered a few more things together. We were on the road a little bit later.
I took a brief nap in the car, and then eventually we stopped to eat at Culver's for lunch. After Culver's we stopped at a Wal-Mart that was right behind the Culver's, and it was the tiniest Wal-Mart I have ever seen in my life. We got a few things from Wal-Mart, and then we were on the road again. I think we ended up getting back to my room around 3ish. Mom and Dad helped me hang up a curtain in my closet, and then we said goodbye, and they left. I finished setting up my closet with some shelves we had brought from home. I was able to get all my food on the shelves so that it's all organized instead of sitting in bins. I think it looks so nice, so I took a picture! This is my closet!
I spent the rest of the night catching up with Maritza after being away for three days and doing all the homework I should've done while I was home. I was up pretty late reading my homework, but it was okay because I wasn't that tired.

I was so excited for today to happen because it was the reason I came home this weekend! Every few labor day weekends some of my family from California decides to come out to visit, and this was one of those labor days! I think it's been two years since the last time I saw my cousin, aunt, and uncle but it may have been more than that!
So this morning was kind of a late morning because it's the weekend, and I didn't feel like getting up early, but when I did get up I ate some breakfast, and then I did a little bit of homework. I took a shower, and then Kelley took a shower, and then Dad, Kelley, and I drove over to see Grandma. Dad had to fix her weed whacker, so Kelley and I visited for awhile. She was cut as always, and we talked for about an hour, and then she fed us chips and juice because grandmas like to feed people.
After we visited Grandma we drove back home, and I helped Kelley trace some letters for a poster she was making. We had to go pick up the pizzas at six, so we left a little bit before then, and we went and got six giant pizzas! We were having family over tonight so six pizzas were necessary!
When we got home my grandma, my aunt Sue, Sheila, and Sheila's husband (who we had never met before today) was already at our house! It was so exciting to see them! So we chatted for a bit as more relatives showed up, and then we ate dinner. Jim and his girlfriend and Joe showed up while we were eating, and then it downpoured. We all huddled under the patio umbrellas, and when the rain cleared up a little bit we went inside because the sky looked really dangerous. We sat inside for awhile talking, and then Dad and Uncle Larry started a fire, so we went down to sit by the fire since the rain seemed to be done. It had gotten pretty chilly outside after the rain, so I had to wear a sweatshirt. We sat around the fire for awhile and I ate some graham crackers and chocolate because I don't like marshmallows to make s'mores, so it was delicious. Then people started leaving to go home, and we were starting to get bit by mosquitoes, so we said our goodbyes to the fam who Kelley and I won't see before they go back to California since we're going back to school, and then we went back inside. I remembered I had to do laundry so I started that while I read some more for homework. I was pretty exhausted from the long day so I went to bed pretty quickly.
